OTTERBEIN
Who says living in the past has to be a bad thing?
Otterbein University’s Philomathean room is a seldom-seen example of gorgeous 1870’s Victorian design. When Nvironment was tasked with breathing new life into the underappreciated historic gathering space, we jumped at the opportunity to crack open our history books.
Our result presents a period-appropriate solution that marries the classical elements of Victorian style with a focus on modern-day student needs. The room, which frequents as a literary haven, has been re-imagined in a palette of calming blues with traditional Victorian patterns scattered throughout, channeling its historic past. We made sure to turn on the charm with every detail… Replacing the worn wall-to-wall carpet with ornate broadloom & rich hardwood flooring evokes a sense of authenticity. Antique chandeliers, damask upholstery, and custom millwork… oh my!
